This year, ten UCLA Engineers will be honored at the annual Engineering Awards Dinner for their exceptional achievements. Those honored, alumni, faculty and students, serve as models of engineering excellence.

2009 UCLA Engineering Alumnus of the Year
Paul Baran MS ’59

Baran developed packet-switching technology which laid the foundation for the Internet. In 2008, Baran received the National Medal of Technology and Innovation for this groundbreaking work.

In special attendance this year, NASA Astronaut, K. Megan McArthur ’93, crew member of the Space Shuttle Atlantis for NASA’s recent mission to service the Hubble Space Telescope, will make a special presentation to the school.
