UCLA Samueli Funding Initiatives

Thank you to all our alumni and friends who support UCLA Samueli. Private gifts help compensate for dwindling support from the state so we may continue to attract world-class faculty and incredible students. The continued investment in our school enables us to provide current and future Bruin Engineers with an unparalleled educational experience and stay at the forefront of research that addresses the most critical issues of the 21st century.

A gift to the Problem Solvers Fund, our engineering annual fund, has a wide reaching and immediate impact on all parts of the Samueli community. Support to this fund provide the dean with the agility to address the school’s most pressing needs.

Diversity in Engineering

At UCLA Samueli we strive to ensure that all students, regardless of background, have the ability and opportunity to pursue a degree in engineering.

If you would like to help support this vision, please consider making a gift to the Diversity in Engineering Fund, which advances equity, diversity and inclusion efforts broadly at UCLA Samueli. Support for this fund will help create new forums for engagement and expand existing educational opportunities school-wide.

CEED
The Center for Engineering Excellence and Diversity, known as CEED, provides a variety of academic and professional programs and resources aimed at supporting underrepresented engineering and computer science students on their path to graduation and success in their post-graduate careers.

WE@UCLA
Women in Engineering at UCLA, known as WE@UCLA, provides mentorship, leadership training, research opportunities and programs to empower students with the knowledge, skills and confidence that can help propel women toward academic and professional success in engineering and computer science. WE@UCLA does not require membership and is open to all UCLA Samueli students.

Student Programs

Engineering Transfer Center

The Engineering Transfer Center provides critical support to transfer students entering UCLA Samueli as they face different challenges than traditional students. Transfer students have less time to acclimate, gain professional development experience, build a cohort and excel before they graduate on an accelerated timeline. By giving to the Engineering Transfer Center, you can help ensure that the Center is able to provide transfer students with the programs and resources they need to succeed.

UCLA Samueli Makerspace

The UCLA Samueli Makerspace is a free-of-charge, 9,000-square-foot lab accessible to all students looking to bring their ideas to life. The Makerspace includes 3D printers, laser cutters, electronics fabrication and test equipment, a virtual reality system, circuit board printers, and much more. As a relatively new space, private support is vital to maintaining the Makerspace and providing students with up-to-date equipment and materials.

Scholarships and Fellowships

Support Bruin Engineers with a scholarship (undergraduate students) or a fellowship (graduate students). This support gives students the opportunity to take full advantage of their UCLA Samueli experience. With the help of a scholarship or fellowship, our students can achieve academic success while also immersing themselves in research and extracurricular activities that enhance their learning and career development.

Faculty Support

At UCLA Samueli we are proud to have a team of 185 incredibly innovative and talented faculty who are at the top of their respective fields. Private support plays a pivotal role in our ability to recruit and retain these world-renowned faculty members.

Faculty Fellows

The Faculty Fellows program helps with the recruitment and retention of junior faculty. Your support can help ensure that UCLA Samueli is acquiring exciting, new faculty who are rising stars in their fields.

Endowed Chairs

Endowed Chairs are critical for recruiting and retaining the highest quality faculty. By establishing an endowed chair you are providing gifted faculty members with the funds they need to push the frontiers of their research and hire the brightest students to assist them. It also ensures that Bruin Engineers learn from the very best professors.

Capital Projects

UCLA Samueli’s most ambitious capital project to date, Engineering VI, represents the pinnacle of engineering innovation.  This state-of-the-art facility located at the end of Westwood Plaza welcomes all to our public campus, yet was built with little support from the State of California. As a result, a great deal of financial support—more than $45 million, so far—has come from generous donors, alumni, industry partners and friends of the school. But we still need your help. So if you want to become an integral part of the future of UCLA Samueli, please visit the official Engineering VI website to learn more about naming opportunities.
