Through gifts to the Engineering Annual Fund, alumni and friends have the opportunity to take an active role in the life of the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science, and ensure that the School's future is as bright as its past.

These unrestricted annual gifts allow the School to:

  • Offer scholarships and fellowships to extraordinary students;
  • Attract and retain world-class faculty;
  • Maintain state-of-the-art laboratories, classrooms and research facilities; and
  • Develop new courses.

Boelter Society
Alumni and friends who make an annual, unrestricted leadership gift of $1,000 or more are recognized as members of the Boelter Society, named for the School’s first Dean, Llewellyn M.K. Boelter. These generous donors inspire our students and faculty through their commitment to engineering excellence.

Alumni Participation
Every gift to the School increases the rate of alumni participation, which is a factor in annual rankings and also critical to our ability to leverage additional financial support from corporations and foundations. Every gift from a graduate of the School counts towards the alumni participation rate - whether it is $5, $25, $100 or $10,000.

Smaller Gifts – Big Impact
In addition to their impact on alumni participation rates, small gifts make a big difference in the amount of unrestricted funds available in the School. In 2002-03, gifts to the Engineering Annual Fund in the $10 to $100 range totaled more than $52,500.

Gifts to Departments
Alumni may also make unrestricted gifts directly to a department in the School. These funds are used at the discretion of the department chair to meet immediate departmental priorities.
