Endowed Undergraduate Scholarships
Help Preserve the UCLA Engineering Tradition of Diversity, Affordability,
and Access
Since it opened its doors in 1945, the UCLA Henry
Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science has provided
educational access to outstanding young men and women from diverse
backgrounds, regardless of financial circumstances. However, the
cost of attending UCLA now exceeds the ability of many low- and
middle-income families to pay for their children’s education.
As a result, additional scholarships for engineering
undergraduates are now an urgent necessity. To meet this need,
the School intends to raise $5 million in endowed scholarship
funds, creating 100 new engineering scholarships.
A renewed commitment in the School to an enriched undergraduate
education has led to recent enhancements such as a revised curriculum,
additional research opportunities, and new interdisciplinary courses.
Undergraduate scholarships allow engineering students to participate
fully in this new and exciting environment.
And unlike public funds that vary from year-to-year,
annual income from a scholarship endowment guarantees renewable
support, thus enabling many more students to realize their dream
of a UCLA education.
UCLA engineering alumni fill many influential
positions in professions critical to California’s economy.
A gift creating a scholarship endowment generates great futures
not only for UCLA engineering students but for the wider community
as well.
Named scholarships honor not only the recipient,
but also the donor, who has his or her name linked to outstanding
academic achievement.
