Three new staff members have joined the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science Office of External Affairs, bringing additional experience to the team. Jinny Hernandez-Quinones, Director of Development, brings a wide range of experience in identifying prospects, cultivating, soliciting and securing major gifts to academic institutions. Kristi Kraemer-Batacan, Director of Annual Gifts, has extensive knowledge and experience in donor relations, special gifts and annual solicitations. Grace Coopman, Director of Alumni Relations, has more than six years of experience in event planning and building relationships.
Hernandez-Quinones will be responsible for developing a comprehensive major gifts program for the School that will increase the number of major gifts prospects in the pipeline, as well as securing significant gifts from our alumni and friends. Most recently, she served as Interim Director of Development for University Projects at Cal State University, Los Angeles. She was responsible for cultivation and solicitation programs, as well as stewardship of current donors and a system for tracking major gifts. She also was a Clarence J. Jupiter Fellow and Assistant Director at Dartmouth College, the University of Pennsylvania and Cal State University, Dominguez Hills, where she worked on development programs, events, and prospect research.
Kraemer-Batacan will lead efforts in cultivating and increasing the number of Boelter Society members via a range of activities. In addition, she will develop a comprehensive stewardship program for donors to the School. She most recently was Donor Relations Manager at UCLA, where she was responsible for managing all donor relations projects in the central Development Communications and Donor Relations group, including the honor roll of donors, the $1 million donor wall, and the catalogue of endowed student support funds for the UCLA College. Prior to joining UCLA, she managed stewardship programs at Pepperdine University and Stanford University.
Coopman’s primary focus will be on strengthening the relationships between alumni and the School through Engineering Alumni Association activities, regional and corporate receptions, reunions, and other events. In addition, she will develop a comprehensive stewardship program for scholarships and fellowships in the School. She most recently was a Corporate Sales Manager at Enterprise Rent-a-Car, where she was responsible for significant growth in corporate business for the company. She has been responsible for organizing numerous community-wide events, as well as corporate vendor fairs.
