Dear Members of the UCLA Engineering Community:

By now, you may have heard reports about the unauthorized access to a restricted UCLA database via personal communication from Acting Chancellor Norman Abrams, or through the media. You may find the information on this incident issued by the university by clicking here.

The Chancellor's office has now contacted all current and former students, faculty, and staff who are believed to have been impacted by this breach through e-mail addresses, or if no email was available, through UCLA's last available contact information on file.

Regardless of whether the Chancellor's office has contacted you, if you are concerned about whether your personal data was contained in the affected database, I strongly urge you to contact the call center at (877) 533-8082 to obtain additional information.

You may also visit http://www.identityalert.ucla.edu/, which provides very helpful information about the incident and how best to protect your identity. You will continue to be provided with updates as information becomes available.

Sincerely,

Vijay K. Dhir
Dean
