Two Engineering Post-Docs Receive Chancellor's Award
Chancellor’s Award for Postdoctoral Research Winners
Two postdoctoral scholars at the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science were among six UCLA winners of the 2012 Chancellor’s Award for Postdoctoral Research. Nine of the 27 finalists for the award were affiliated with UCLA Engineering.
2012 Chancellor’s Award for Postdoctoral Research winners
Buhm Han, post-doctoral scholar in computer science in associate professor Eleazar Eskin’s lab. Han’s research interests are in developing methods for the analysis of
genetic variations which would lead to better understanding of the
underlying mechanism through which traits are affected, better ways to
identify disease causing mutations, and better understanding of human
population history. Han received his Ph.D. in computer science
(bioinformatics) from UC San Diego in 2009. Wanjun Jiang, post-doctoral scholar in the Device Research Laboratory of professor Kang Wang, the Raytheon Chair in Electrical Engineering. Jiang’s research interests are in implementing magnetic materials for
some novel functionalities which have implications for a new class of
nanoelectronic devices. Jiang received his Ph.D. in condensed matter
physics form the University of Manitoba.
