UCLA Engineering Awards Dinner 2012


Held annually, the UCLA Engineering Awards recognizes outstanding alumni, faculty, students and friends, who through their exceptional achievement, have contributed to the school's success.
Aaron Cohen '58 accepts the UCLA Engineering 2012 Alumnus of the Year Award from Dean Vijay K. Dhir. Cohen is Founder, VIce Chairman of the Board of the Directors, and Senior Vice President, National Technical Systems
Lifetime Contribution winner Simon Ramo jokes with the audience before accepting the school's Lifetime Contribution Award from Dean Dhir. Ramo has received the nation's highest awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the National Medal of Science. He was chief scientist and technical director of the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile program. He founded many successful high-tech corporations including Ramo-Wooldridge, which became TRW Inc.
Lawrence E. Tannas, Jr., '59, MS '61 gives remarks after accepting the Alumni Professional Achievement Award from Dean Dhir. Tannas is a longtime innovator and entrepreneur in electronic information displays. He is the president of Tannas Electronic Displays Inc.
Patrick Ho '05 MS '06 accepts the Young Alumni Service Award from Leonard Bonilla '70, president of the UCLA Engineering Alumni Association. Since his graduation, Ho has been very involved with the Engineering Alumni Association, as well as the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department.
Paul R. Eggert MS '77 PhD '80, Lecturer of Computer Science, accepts the Lockheed Martin Excellence in Teaching Award from Associate Dean Jane P. Chang. The award is open to all faculty in the school.
Robert N. Candler, Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering, accepts the Northrop Grumman Excellence in Teaching Award from Associate Dean Jane P. Chang. The award is open to all junior faculty in the school.
