Engineering 1 Building to be Replaced After 53 Years

Demolition of Building's East Wing Begins Dec. 17, 2003

On December 17, 2003 the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science marked an important milestone in its plan to replace the School's Engineering I building with a modern, state-of-the-art facility capable of better supporting the School's mission of teaching, research and service.

Construction began with the controlled demolition of the Engineering 1 building's east wing, called Unit 1B, Its replacement is scheduled to be completed by March 2006.
